No you can't use vray materials made in max directly in vfr. However we did release a material converter which works from max to export those materials. So if you have max and vfMax then you can move your materials over.

        Re: Materials dilema....

        Hi ...

        i have the same problem...
i have Rhino and now try to make renders in vray plugin
but how to make .mat to vismat, becoast i have no 3DSMAX,
and i never will have it....

        so what shuld i do....

        1. buy new 3DSMAX
        or
        2. put the vray render to recycle bin

        thx

(why shuld i use vray render for rhino if i ned a 3DSMAX to convert mat. files to .vismat - i thing is better buy 3DSMAX only then both (vray for rhino + 3dsmax)

so for what is the product if i must buy a 3DMAX to have materials,
sorry but render without materials is basic the same like speedy car without gas )
        or it is a joke?

          Re: Materials dilema....

You create your own vismat materials right in the plug-in, or in the material editor.
You can import materials that already come with VrayforRhino, also. Right-click on "scene materials" in the material editor.

Do you have the Vray Instruction Manual? It's in the download area. So are a bunch of user's materials that you can download for free.
