  • Many questions regarding Vray materials

Guys, I have so many questions regarding Vray material editing and import.

    1. How can I insert a Jpeg image into my drawing?
    2. How can I simultaneously render the inserted jpeg image along with my drawings, what's the configurations?
    3. How to set transparency and bump settings? Please provide link to the tutorial.
    4. What is the best visopti render for exterior perspectives?
    5. How can I make trees look more realistic or how can I change the color tones of it?
    6. How can I make the glass more realistic(reflections/refractions/transparency settings?
    7. How can I make a jpeg image a glass material & transparency settings?
    8. How can I make an ordinary material look like stainless steel or chromed piece.

Thank you very much sir/s & best regards!

Its generally best to use a Sketchup material to handle applying textures to objects. This is because UV information is only generated when Sketchup finds a texture on an object. It is a current weakness of our plugin

I'm not sure I follow what you mean by this - sorry.

Transparency can be done by using a Sketchup material with opacity - or by using refraction layers in V-Ray materials if you want a "real" transparency (glass). Bump maps can be added in the V-Ray Material - see the "Maps" section. I believe DCauldwell has a good post around here somewhere involving bumping.
    4. What is the best visopti render for exterior perspectives?
Settings are not really one-size-fits-all. But the light cache visopts should be fine for an exterior scene

I would suggest you check out the manual for V-Ray for SketchUp. You can find it in the Downloads - My Files - V-Ray for SketchUp section. Also if you go to the Support section you can find tutorials for some of these issues. Most of the material issues can be researched in those two areas.

Thanks Joe...looks like my feet are indeed getting wet. ;D

By the way, how can I make an object look chrome or stainless steel? What shall I configure? Moreover, how can I adjust the lights inside my room...and how can I get the sun 's ray go inside the room?
