  • Help please

I have just got Vray for sketchup. I manage quite well with this program, love it totally. sometimes i get pices of my model dissapear when i render. (usually happens when i copy stuff into the drawing) so if i have a shutter and copy that to my model...it only shows a few louvres of the shutter and not all of it. Then i normally need to go and explode it and re group it to make it visible. Now is there something i am doing wrong or is this just a program glitch? ;D

    Re: Help please

Well, it actually depends on your setup what might be happening. If your rendering at smaller resolutions then there will be instances when smaller things "disappear", which is just because there are fewer pixels describing those details. The much more major thing is that for some instances Irradiance Mapping can cause very small details to be lost. This has to do with IR being an approximation method, as well as the process of reconstructing the IR samples. Typically if this is the case then creating a more detailed IR map (having a higher max rate) will help. In some extreme cases the actual reconstruction method had to be changed because the default one was "blurring" the solution far too much. All in all it goes back to resolution. If your resolution is small its going to be very hard to get those details in there no matter what you do, and even more so with blurring methods (almost everything except QMC is a blurring method).

It would be very helpful to post your settings, some images, and maybe a few more details about your model, as that will allow me to say more specifically what is causing the issue and the best way to fix it.

        Re: Help please

Reverse those faces (right click the surface and choose 'reverse face'.
Or try to paint both sides with that same texture. Both works.

        Cheers,

We have had reports of nested geometry not rendering by other users. I'm collecting as many scenes as possible from our users so I can eliminate this problem with our service release. If you could send me a scene that demonstrates this problem with some directions to explain how to reproduce the behavior I would really appreciate it. If it is a smaller skp file you can just email it to me directly - otherwise please place it at ftp://ftp.asgvis.com/incoming and email me to let me know you've uploaded it. Thanks for your help
