    White Specks

I have chrome set in an HDRI environment with an IR Render, the chrome and some other reflective surfaces are producing white specks. Oh ya the AA is set to 1.5
    Any thoughts
    Thanks
    Pat

Best post an image. Could be caustic effects or caused by a HDRI problem.

Hope I get this right and thanks for the fast response. As you can see the render is incomplete.

Hmm, never seen befor here. Save your Vray options and post the file per "additional options" of the forum "Post reply". Maybe at your settings is somthing wrong.

If you like, at this thread you can find a download for my standard Vray settings. Load this setting file and set your HDRI ... maybe it helps.

Also it could help, if you set your chrom material glossiness at 0.98 and subdiv 12. So, you blurry the reflections and get more samples. Also you could blur a little bit your reflection map per photoshop or HDRshop befor you use it. It help the reflection sampling too.

Thanks Micha for the settings, looks a lot better (I think). I still have more tuning to do but I have a nice base to start from for my Rhino models, any thoughts and /or pointers?

            Re: White Specks

Your gamma workflow is wrong. Look at my setup. (1->2.2 and enable both options)
If you disable "batch render" than you can render and work at the model at the same time.
Enable max reflection level depth - it helps to render faster.
You don't need IM max rate 0, -1 should be good enough. The IM produce some blotches - higher subdiv count helps (40->66).
Color mapping -> use allways "Reinhard" and most burn 0.8. Test sub-pixel sampling, it helps to get fine, critical reflections better sampled sometimes.

Your HDRI is very contrastful and that cause jagged edges at dark-bright-jumps in reflections. Maybe an other HDRI helps too. Also I would add more light to the scene. Quick hint: add a rect light above the scene (maybe "invisible).

              Micha,
Man I had a lot of stuff messed up. Thanks for taking the time to review my settings and your ongoing help with this, there are a lot of variables but the rewards are fantastic. It is so nice to have your support and not to have to export out of Rhino to another application to achieve a descent render.
