  • change HDRI tone in Vray - how to

    Hy guys,
I discovered that it's possible to use a Blend material with an Hdri image and an AColor map to change the toning of the HDRI.
Example if the image it's too blue you can blend with a little bit of orange to make it a little more greyish.

I hope this info can help you to tune up your image better!

    Bye
    Riccardo

But you lost the deep black tones. I would prefer a color multiplier for every texture or a multiplier material (like the blend). Old wishes by me.

      Micha,

Riccardo's blend solution works quite well and is very flexible. It retains all of the HDR data, and allows for a very easy way to adjust the tone of the image. Try it and see because I think it works very well. Congrats to Riccardo for a good find.

I render some tests and found, that the blend color cause an offset, most visible at the black image parts ... but if the blend color is full saturated, than can be used a low blend factor, that cause a small offset only. I tested to shift the black level per frame buffer level correction - I move the left slider until the black parts are looking good again and it works now. Thanks Riccardo and Damian.

Thanks for Riccardos good find and Damiens hint for me to realy test it. ;D

Damien, but if possible, I would prefer a direct color multiplier at the texture UI. The workflow would be eaysier.

Yea the work flow for the blend is a bit rough. I don't believe we are doing too much tweeking of the UI though, so I will take note for the eventual rework.
