I'm new to this vfr thing and need to make an X-Ray material. I know that it can be done with falloff channels in Max version, but as there is no falloff for vfr . . . how would I make an X-Ray material? I've been trying all kinds of combinations of the fresnel with different ior and color swaps in all kinds of different configurations and can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

Re: Need to Make X-Ray Material
Yea that sounds like something that wouldn't be possible at the moment. The only thing we do have is the fresnel map, which is notoriously tricky to try and work with for anything other then reflection (blend/color falloffs are quite hard). Do you at least have an example of what you're trying to create?Damien Alomar<br />Generally Cool Dude

Re: Need to Make X-Ray Material
Hey Damien, why not fresnel?
Quick test - material with emitter layer only and fresnel transparency. Could be a X-ray effect or? Play with IOR and black/white color of the fresnel, maybe you get better effects.
