  • DR Problem

I'm trying to DR a bit. I set it all up on the slave machine, get Spawner started, hit render . . . it shows that it initiates properly. The window on the slave machine also shows the render script and status info with no reported errors. In the render buffer it shows the buckets with their ids for computers . . . problem is . . . they don't move. It just sits there using processor time on both machines and doesn't progress.

    Settings:
GI using Primary as ir and Secondary as Photon

Is anyone else having this problem?

    Re: DR Problem

Well, as an update to the problem: instead of making the normal multiple pre-passes that ir does, it is doing what it calls "interpolation pass" and it is only doing one of them. It does seem to be rendering, but it is so much slower than only a single processor that it's crazy. I'm got 6 buckets rendering slower than one. Anyone else have this problem? Is it the settings for IR and Photon Mapping that is doing this?

      Re: DR Problem

Hmm, I play only a few times with caustic photons. My experience is, that at the beginning the calculation of the photons need a long time. I think, your observations could be normal.

Why did you use photons? For daily use I recommend the combination of LC (sec) + IM (prim). If I understand Vray right, than photons are needed for caustics only. For your first DR test you could render without photons.

Set the LC passes at the same count like you use CPUs.
