  • Interior rendering question

    Hello
I am currently testing interior rendering with different options, I will soon post my wip and renderings with differnet settings as a benchmark..

In the meantime I have been thru a lot of interior tutorials, my question is:
If you have a directional light coming thru the windows, why do you have to put rectangular lights in the windows as well?

    Thanks

Rectangular lights are a must? I think no. This lights are good to get direct raytraced light instead the GI env light only. The user can choose between "portal mode" that provide a raytrace light based on the colors from emitters/sky/HDRI behind or the standard rect lights.

Imortant: try to avoid glass in windows (windows glass is invisible from inside most). If glass is used, try glass without refraction layer to keep the calculations simple. If refraction layer is a must, set "affect shadow".

... radius set the size of the "sun" disk. Try a value like 0.05 - if I remember me right, the shadows should be light blury now.
