  • mapping and viewport

I want to map an image of the striping of a road surface on a box/plane. I can see the map in the rendered viewport but it does not correspond with the rendered image. In this way it is very hard to position the bitmap.
Is ther a way to make the rendered viewport and the way v-ray positions the bitmap correspond?

    Regards, Rene

They should correspond to each other...can you post an image of what you're seeing as well as the mapping settings?

here is a screendump on which you can see my settings end a rendering. It is a problem i encountered before.

A swing in a rotary? That must be a Rhino modeling bug.

Did you use a Vray material for the roads or a Rhino material? If Vray, is your mapping set at explicit map channel?

          Re: mapping and viewport

My guess is that some where you have a u or v repeat (probably within the V-ray material setting) that is causing that texture to be stretched and simply not being read by rhino. I think there is a bug in the beta where we won't read U or V repeat/transformations after the first time they are set, so my recommendation is that once you find a setting that works you should delete the mapping and then reapply it exactly how you need it. Thats my best guess.

On another notes, I think a rotary is a great place for children...it gives them a 360 degree view of all the cars

Yea, aint that something a swing on a rotary. It is more or less meant as a frightening sign for the cardriver. It is not meant to play on, it just stands there and swings as if a child has just left it.
Regarding your answers. I use a v-ray material and explicit map-channel. There is indee a v repeat in the material but the problem was allready there before i used the v-repeat.
The viewport shows the mapping that appears when you use the rhino render. I worked around it but would stille like to see the mapping as shown in the v-ray render.
I do not quit understand if i do something wrong or if its is a v-ray bug.

Post or send me the file with the maps and I'll take a look at it (you'd be surprised how many people forget the maps ).
