  • toon shader

Is there currently a possibility for toon shading in v-ray? If not will itbe available in the future.
The same question regarding procedural mapping as known in 3d max.

    Regards,

    Re: toon shader

Toon shading is not available in rhino. Max actually implements this through an odd environment setting and from what I remember it really isn't that extensive. We are looking to implement more NPR type stuff in the future, but I'm not sure what the situation/timeframe with that is.

I do have a "texture renderer" that I scripted, so if you really need something, send me an email.

        Re: toon shader

A shader would render the effect based on the vray pipeline. A texture renderer would just compute a texture that would be applied to the surface like any other texture. It takes longer (mostly cause its a script...not a compiled language), but it can "fake" the effect if needed.

Could you show an example - sounds interesting.

Not too impressive, but comes in handy from time to time...the map was created using David's GDI scripting tools.
