  • Why the gras appears plane in my renders?

    Hi! Friends.
When Irendering a image thes grass appears plane, I try to chnge te displacement, aumenting the numbre an the vertical but the result its the same, how I can do to in my renders the grass appears more real, I'ts the same problem with the woodfloor. And how I can change the shadows settings to obtain the sun an shadows for a specify city?

    Hola.

Is the grass part of other geometry with different materials? I think I had that problem. I think I fixed it by separating the grass geometry into a completely separate component.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

I had the same problem for my few projects. I try different way to create the plane and add the displacement to it. it won't work. unless i create a small area and not in any component. the displacement will turn up. Any clue for this problem?

What does your VrayMtl look like in Material Studio? Something like this?

Yes my material looks like these, but in my render not appears in a good way, someone of you can expose your own settings step by step?.

Re: Why the gras appears plane in my renders?

I just posted an example SU file, vismat (displaced grass), and visopt (IR/LC, 640x480, Phys cam, Day time, medium quality) in a zip file to Rapidshare. That way you can see how it all works together. The download link is: http://rapidshare.com/files/95811355...ement.zip.html

If you just extract the main directory in the zip directly to your c drive, you shouldn't have to remap any bitmaps (i think). otherwise, everything is in there for remapping if you choose a different location. Hope that helps you sort it out! By the way, this is what the render of this little scene looks like for me:

Re: Why the gras appears plane in my renders?

much better!! now, if you have time to wait for improved quality, try adjusting the displacement setting in your visopt to get even better looking displacement...make Edge Length(pix)=2 and Max Subdivs=512. That was my setting in my grass tests. Or, if have a really long time and , make Edge Length(pix)=1 and Max Subdivs=1024!

Also, it appears that the grass may be refracting a little too much green color on to the side of your walkway...maybe you could reduce the degree of refraction just a bit in your vismat.

Re: Why the gras appears plane in my renders?

hei!? I've downloaded the grass displacement and try it. Why is it that my render comes flat? I remap all of them and i did not change any settings, I applied what it is needed to be but still I get flat grasss image.

You must select the area to apply the grass with her edges it is a good idea convert in a group.

                          Good luck!
