  • new light options...

ok could someone kindly explain what the new lights settings are:

    scalar
    lumens
    lm/m/m/sr
    watts
    w/m/m/sr

directional light does not have these options...?

Linear lights has no options at all...but has a general modifier that brings up the sun options..

you can choos the color of the shadow of point light now... what does that really do?

directional light does not have these options

    Thanks for your time...

    Re: new light options...

Those are lighting units which allow for photometric control of lights. They allow you to set the intensity of the light based on different physical measures so that they can match existing light intensity and work with the physical camera very well.

directional light doesn't have these because its not a physical light source (it extends out to infinity), so thats why.

don't know about linear lights...haven't taken a look at them in a while.

the color of the shadow changes the color of the shadow. By default it was just black, but now you can adjust it to red or something.

      Re: new light options...

      ah thank you
that I figured but what I would like to understand are these:
scalar: what scale... of document or of light...
      lumens
lm/m/m/sr what does the m/m/sr stand for?
      watts
      w/m/m/sr same as lm...

      thanks again

Scalar simply means the normal light intensities that you're used to setting. This will reference the scale of the document and not really anything tangible in the realworld sense

m/m should be meters squared...the sr stands for steradian... here's wikipedia on it
