  • VfR renderings + viewportstyle

    Hi

I would like to combine a Vray render with a "capture viewport to file" - render. Custom ghosted style for example. And with the tool Micha had in his render toolbar (set viweport antialiasing highest" the captures are so good. The problem is the size...

Does someone know if it´s possible to get larger captures than the actual viewport size???

you will need to run the command line version of either ViewCaptureToClipboard or ViewCaptureToFile. Put a dash (-) in front of either one of those commands, and you'll get a series of yes or no options...width and height are one of them, along with draw grid, draw axis, and one more that I can't remember. Check the Rhino help file for more details

Right, and if I remember me right, the capture size is limited by the graphic card.

That would seem logical, since the GPU will have to process the screen cap. I don't think that should enter the picture too much unless you are doing rediculusly high res screen caps (better than rediculusly lo res ) as most graphics cards will support 2048x2048. A middle of the road card will probably be like 4096x4096 and a higher end one 8192x8192.

If you want to see how big your graphics card could pump out, go to Rhino Options> Appearance> OpenGL and in the graphics card details, you should have some sort of read out for maximum texture or viewport size.

Helpful tip...use TestSetAALevel for smooth screencaps...don't for get to set it back to none for working though (ps don't tell any one I told you ;D)
