  • Giving glass material a gradient

    Hi guys

I've done a search but can't seem to find anything.

I'm currantly changing a balcony from a solid material to glass. I need to give the glass a gradient from frosted to transparaent but can't seem to find out how I can do it.

Any help will be much appriciated

    Chris

From frosted to transparent glass...Instructions are for the current release

    1. Make gradient in ps (or wherever. Have it go from about medium gray 120-130 to white. Do not make it darker than that.

    2. Make SU material with that texture as the diffuse map...adjust mapping to fit your object

    3. Make a linked material from that SU material...Add a reflection layer and a refraction layer

    4. Take the map you made and put it in the Refraction Glossiness slot

    5. Before you render make sure to set the transparency of your original SU material to 0 (zero) so to that the gradient texture you've applied in the SU material doesn't show up in the rendering

All materials are now automatically linked. So you only need to find the material in the V-Ray material editor and do the same steps.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.
