  • Vray Rendering Resolution?

Hi, I am new to using vray, and I was wondering if there is a way to render an image out so that it is at 300dpi instead of the 72 dpi default. I have my settings set to 1600x1200, Image aspect: 1.3333~, and pixel aspect: 1. Thanks.

    Re: Vray Rendering Resolution?

Pixels are pixels...DPI only refers to how many of those pixels will be needed for printing. So if I'm setting a rendering @ 1600x1200, that could be 72 dpi or 300 dpi. Vray doesn't care because all vray needs to know is the pixels themselves not the size that they will be printed at.

If you have a target physical size and a required dpi then you can use that to generate your required resolution.... lets say a 8x10 image at 300 dpi...that would be 2400x3000...that same 8x10 image at 72 dpi would be 576x720...

Ah, i see. So if i wanted my image to fit at 11x17 sheet at around 300dpi then i should render it around 2400x4500? and then just throw it in photoshop and resize the image that way. Correct?

Yes...setting the dpi through the image settings is one way, or you could just take care of it in the printing dialog box as well. I'd recommend the first way though.

        btw 11x17 should be 3300x5100...(11*300)x(17*300)
