        Re: enviroment

        * use the sun button of the Vray toolbar and add a sun

        * set GI and background at "sky" and choose an other sun than "default" (the sun from step 1 should be at a list)

Now you should get a physical sky with a sun.
If the brightness isn't right, than use the controls of the physical camera or if you use the standard cam, than use the color mapping ("Reinhard") multiplier.

          Re: enviroment

For exteriors, going with the standard (default) set up for the sun/sky/physical camera is a good place to start and usually doesn't need too much tweeking from that. As Micha suggests, adjusting the exposure is the way to get the brightness where you need. The only potential speed bump would be setting an hdr, and all you need to do with that is make sure the intensity of the hdr matches the exposure that your working with.

            Re: enviroment

hi Micha yes i figured it out , eventually , im not use to adjusting something (multiplyer)... on the HDRI file from 1 through to 1000 , usually you only tweak these amounts by a few points , thus i was never seeing any changes ,

Question : what is best to multiply ?
Gi multiplyer, multiplying the HDRI file or the Sun?
how do you set a camera for the above settings ... if your backround is sky set to the sun

Am am still not happy with the images ,, i would like to render with a HDRI file and adjust my camera settings ( exposure etc) and adda few more additional lights ... any tips would really help , attached see my visopt file

thank you , it took me forever to browse the forum to find similar problems ...

                Re: enviroment

OK, first there was only the standard camera and it works fine with standard HDRI intensities like 1..10 and standard light values. Later the very bright sky was implemented. I used the color mapping multiplier (approx. 0.05) to get down the brightness.
Later the phys cam was implemented, adjusted for the bright sky. Now you can choose, how you like to get phys cam and HDRI together. The default phys cam is to dimmed out for HDRI/lights or the standard camera is to bright for the sky. You can choose, what you adjust - phys cam or color mapping multiplier or HDRI intensity - so my experience.

Do you mean the GI multiplier at the Indirect Illumination options? This options are not for brightness control, this options are for control the intensity of indirect reflected light.

                      Re: enviroment

Ah, the GI multiplier at the environment options is active, if you use the color option, no map.

For image upload use a free host service like photobucket.com.

                        Re: enviroment

It says the server is full because we are no longer allowing images to be uploaded directly through the forum. You will need to use a hosting service to host the images and then you can post them here.

I use www.imageshack.us which is free and will generate the appropriate code for posting images as well.
