  • Fog color problem

Hello. I am using V-ray for Sketchup. I have a problem with fog color. I loaded a green glass material (It was already made when I installed V-ray). But when I render it, it is clear. It has no color. Whatever color I set, as a fog color, it has no result, it is still clear. Can someone help me please? Thanks

    Re: Fog color problem

No problem with Fog. The reason is that Fog is based on the thickness of a given object. The thicker it is the darker it will become. The converse is also true, the thinner the object is, the lighter it will become. I can take any object with any fog based material and scale it up so its black and down so its clear.*

So, my suggestion is that you increase the multiplier until you start getting the effect that you're looking for. The standard for Fog is that an object with a thickness of 1 unit and a multiplier of 1 will result in the color set for the fog color. Notice I said 1 unit, so if you're working in feet or meters or something, you must consider that as well.

*There are special instances where setting a certain color will not lead to completely black fog effects. These instances mainly stem from setting colors that are at the extreme of the color spectrum, i.e. Red (255,0,0) will not become black. Also, this does not include transparent materials (those typically don't need help turning black ;D)
