I am having problems with shadows. I am using the sun which I made...the problem is when I change the time of day I dont get long shadows on surfaces or on the plane itself. Anyone know how to change this?
I'm not really following you here, so an image might be helpful. The only thing I can think of is that you have the Sky still set to the Default Light, in which case you might get two shadows (one from the sun itself and one from the sky).
here is my image. as you can see i dont get any long shadows (early morning). Another problem I am having is that my plane is reflecting the sky even though I dont have reflectivity for that material. I am trying to get an effect like the last third image.
I suppose so, it's the "physical correctness" problem of your setup. Don't use color 255 for white colors. Color 255 means, 100% of the incoming light will be diffuse reflected to the next surface. In the real world a typical value of bright white is 80% reflectance. I use for white 220..230 most. Also it should help to set the secondary engine multiplier (GI settings) at 0.8. So, only max. 80% of light will be indirect reflected. At exterior scene it can be useful to set this value lower, until 0.6. In my tests I have seen, that lower values will make, that white materials looks greyish, because the diffuse light bounce energy was to low.
I believe the reason I was not getting any shadows was due to my indirect illumination primary and secondary engines. Could you give me some good set up suggestions that will give me something similar to the image above? Let me know. Cheers.
Thanks for the link. I worked my way through the tutorials and experimented and got pretty good results. Thanks for all the help. If you have other advice or suggestions let me know. Cheers.
