  • VRImage vs Image Frame Buffer

    Hi all,

The image frame buffer always produces the desired result but when I need to use the VRImage, after extracting it into photoshop, it doesn't look as it should if I were to use the Frame Buffer even though the settings have not been changed. Is there a way to get the VRImage to produce the same output as Frame buffer? Or is there a setting that I need to change if I'm using the VRImage?

    Cheers,
    Sando

What your seeing is that the VRImage format does not apply any gamma correction to the final image. The simple way to get things back to the way your used to seeing is to apply the gamma correction yourself. Just go to Image>Exposure and Gamma is the third slider. Set the gamma to .4545 and you'll be good.

Thanks for quick response. I thought it was something like that but couldn't get it right in photoshop.

Actually I tried changing the gamma to .4545 but this didn't work. I found that if my original gamme setting in vfr was 2.2 then the gamma in photoshop should be changed to 2.2

Is this a general rule of thumb?

      Thanks again

yea, 2.2 ... 4.5 is the inverse of 2.2, so I tend to get mixed up between the two sometimes. Anyway, in general this is a pretty standard thing, but it depends on how you save the image. HDRs and EXRs tend to exhibit this behavior the most.
