Hello everyone, i'm having trouble with the render settings, i've used VfSU before, and i've got pretty good results (cause i'm kind of new with v-ray....well beginner it's more like it :-[) but now i can't render because the result is a completely white image, or i get the image but no shadows are displayed, even though the shadow is shown on the SU model. ???
If you can help me, it would be very appreciated

    Thanks

What V-Ray version are you using?

Did you change something in regards to the camera?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

      Re: Render Settings

i have the educational version that's now in ASGVIS website, in the download section, 01.05.02. And no, i haven't changed anything, i just used the default settings but i got the same result. And as i told before, i used v-ray a couple of times, and then i started having troubles with the shadow issue. I've read the manual, but i don't know what i'm missing :'(
So, if there's some solution....please tell me ;D

      Thanks

        Re: Render Settings

The original version has a bug where the V-Ray sun is not synced with SU. In order to sync the sun go to the environment tab, click on the M for the GI, then you get a new window where you click the Update button. The V-ray sun should now be synced with your current SU settings. Note that you have to do this every time you modify the SU sun.

The SR1 release does not have this problem as the sun is automatically synced.

                Re: Render Settings

First of all, you should set the GI multiplier to 1 instead of 0.5 which you have now.

You are getting shadows in your render, but that cube is floating in free space. In SketchUp when you set SU to display shadows on ground it simulates a ground plane, but in reality there is no geometry there. So you have to make it yourself. You can draw a normal SU rectangle, or you can use the V-Ray infinite plane.

                  Hey Rocio,
If your problem is the shadow's being absence, it's because you don't have a surface under that cube.
In SketchUp you see shadows because in the Shadow settings you have 'On ground' checked.

Not so...when something is mapped (the sky in this case), the color and multiplier directly within the UI don't matter at all. It could be 20,000 and purple and it wouldn't make any difference. This is mostly our fault, since we should grey those out once a map is added.

Ah, so it's only the Map multiplier that works. Yea, that is confusing. Both the multiplier box and the colour box should be disabled IMO. I remember being confused with the colour box and the map box in the beginning. Especially for opacity maps and transparency maps as I thought the colour would affect the intensity of the map applied.
