  • shadow from png texture?pls help!

    hi guys.

    im new here and v new to the prg and i have a bit of a problem. im using .png image of woven bamboo pattern as a material in my model. the png image have transparent holes like normal weave and u can see through the holes in the model. the problem is that i need the shadow to have the same pattern effect too. ive been trying for days and googled around and still couldnt do it. i dont know if its possible but can anyone pls tell me how? im v desperate now. thank you in advance!

    You need to create a transparency map. Using your .png image as a basis, in Photoshop, create the transparency map so that the transparent bits are black and the non-transparent are white and then insert this in the transparency slot in the diffuse material editor.

      hopefully soon vray will autoclip png and tiff files ;D

        Pngs are much more likely...I'm still not sure what's gonna happen with tiffs.
