  • Vegetation and Landscaping technique in SU?

Hi guys, i am an SU+vray1.5 user for a year now, i am working as CADD Designer in an archtl consulting company and SU is our prime machine for conceptualization in our projects. For fast production and presentation we do only models in SU and post-process it in PS. I am dissatisfied about the output of the image.(our boss is satisfied with that kind of presentation). I applied most of the things what is written in vray manual and those clip mapping 2Dtrees/people tutorial in our forum, Since i want more realistic 3D presentation,i would like to ask(experts)what would be the best 'technique for vegetation and landscape application'? would there be any dedicated 3D Trees, people and vegetation software that is compatible with vray? Any help would be much appreciated. Hoping for replies. Thank you.

    Chris

ps. i would like to show you our sample image but i cant attachd it, any help?

Well if you look around the forum you''ll find that many VfSU users using 2D trees and they look photo-realistic. Since you chose water color style i don't think you can make it too real since it has a paint like feeling.

Of course there are amazing 3D trees (Like Xfrog).

Thanks for the reply 40th. i just want to clear my query, the image(watercolor effect)is just an example of our finish product here in my company and im trying to do other landscaping and vegetation in 3d photorealistic kind of style of which i asked about.

That is why i took the advantage of posting since i believe there are plenty of experts here of whom they could help and give tutorials.

          thanks for the xfrog recommendation.

In my opinion and from what i've seen i can tell you that both of the techniques (2D and 3D) can be photo-realistic.
Each approach has it's own pros and cons.

for example look at FA's work (all Vegetation is 2d) http://asgvis.com/smf/index.php?topic=5876.0
