      Never seen it.
Try updating to the latest version 1.05.30. Link in my signature.

This comes up when using the floating license system and V-Ray thinks that someone is trying to steel the software. Typically this is because the license server is from a different build then the version of V-Ray that's being run. Make sure they're from the same build and see if that takes care of your issue.

I am trying to have our license server build match the vray build but our IT guy needs to verify with the ASGvis people that all the older versions of vray and sketchup that we have installed will still function after the modification. any idea?
          thanks

I'm not sure whether I'm following you. Unless the license manager and VfSU are both from the same build, then we can't guarantee that you won't see a water mark. If you have different versions of VfSU being used within your company then all the older versions need to be upgraded to the same build as the newest version being used (or the newest version could be downgraded, but you'll "loose" files saved with the new version).

Re: watermarks keep showing up in my renderings

i can totally understand that the license server and build should be the same, unfortunately with such a large office updating the software and restarting the server is not such an easy task i understand from our IT
i will say, that i had the latest build 1.05.30 put on the machine and that didn't help the issue.
isn't there a way to just deactivate the watermark? this is a problem

Your server and clients now all run 1.05.30?

No, just my machine runs the latest version. they can't update the server because its too big a task. i guess i need to get used to the watermark.

Re: watermarks keep showing up in my renderings

You should probably go back to whatever version the rest of your firm is using. The reason being (besides the watermark issue) is that right now they can't access any of the work that you're doing. Older versions can't open the vray information within a newer file, so they will be "stuck" in regards to anything that you do in 1.05.30.

I take it your license server is running on your main server?
See if they have a spare computer, an old discarded one, which they can hook up to the network and use that as a license server.

hm... does updating the license server actually require server reboot? Can you just shut down the license application, uninstall, install new version, launch new version?

Re: watermarks keep showing up in my renderings

So I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been waiting to see if updating the license server to match the latest build of vray would fix the problem and finally we figured out that it doesn’t fix the problem.

One thing I have noticed is that the watermark only shows up when I assign a sketchup opaque material that I then go into vray and modify into a translucent material. This might be an unrelated problem but whenever I go out of the file and back in it won’t save that opacity change that I made in vray. Maybe there is a connection with the two problems?
I realize there are so many variable to think about and I am probably grasping at straws.

Also I have noticed that this material issue and watermark never shows up when I use a 32 bit machine,

Does any of this make any sense to anyone
                        Thanks for all your help

There is a bug where, if you adjust any of the V-Ray materials, they won't save unless you open the Option window before you save the model.

                            ah...i see.
so maybe the problems aren't related. my bad. thanks for the tip

just out of curiosity do most people run vray for sketchup on 32bit or 64bit machines?

To fix my problem if its a 64 bit issue it was suggested to me that maybe i should run vmware for 32bit environment from my 64bit computer, but i imagine this would cause my images to render extremely slowly.

                            thanks

I now run Windows7 RC 64bit. But that's not mainly due to SU+V-Ray, since SU is only 32bit it suffers from the limitations a 32bit will have. But it does mean that the rest of my system has more resources. And now with Photoshop being available in 64bit, as well as other applications I use, it's a move I'm happy to make.
