Re: VfSU on Mac OS
40TH,
I have a 13.3" Macbook 2008 Model, this is my 1st Mac. In the past i have used only PCs. I was a bit afraid of my purchase, because when i bought it, there still was no announcement of a Vray for Sketchup version on Macs. But i bought it anyways because i just wanted to finally make the switch.
I have VMWare Fusion installed, and ran Windows 7, and i couldn't start Vray for Sketchup at all. I have not looked for a solution because i have been very busy with my clients on my Pc (boo). I also have not tried it on Bootcamp. But i hear that the Mac does not use all of its power when you use Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or Bootcamp. At the moment i am just waiting for the Mac OS X final release. Good luck.
My 2 cents.

Re: VfSU on Mac OS
Hi S.Charlie,
It's sad to hear that you can't get it to work.
Yeah, I heard that using parallels splits the recourses between Mac Os and the Win simulation...
13.3 inch in my opinion is a bit small for visual/graphic work on a Laptop (or any screen for that matter).

Re: VfSU on Mac OS
Hello 40th, I'm glad I could help you, I was a PC user as S_Charlie was, I also wanted to make the switch and was afraid of the same
things you were like not being able to use Vray anymore. I've got to admit Vray runs very smooth in a windows environment on a Mac
using Bootcamp, it uses all the possible cores and recourses your hardware has.
But, I've also been using Parallells Desktop, it is good if you need to run some smaller apps that are windows only, but it was very 'painful'
at rendering, it was only able to render with one of my 2 cores and it instantly ran out of memory (although I've set my settings to the very
highest performance for my Windows environment)
So I would say Bootcamp, btw, which model you're buying? I've bought a 17" Model with upgraded processor and 128GB SSD Disk (very recomendable)
and I must say I've never regret myself to have bought this machine (even when it was very pricey for a student/freelancer like me..)
Hope this helped and you'll be happy with your possible future purchase! ;D
Cheers,
Roevens Johannes

Re: VfSU on Mac OS
Hi Foxar,
Yesterday I've made the purchase. So now I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz Intel core Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, Nvidia GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT, HD 250 GB.
Also I bought Fusion 2, and I didn't install a windows OS yet. But i noticed that Fusion can virtualize an existing bootcamp windows OS.
The main programs that i want to use on the Mac are SU, PS and AutoCad.
Btw, I think 15" for a laptop is very good. 17" imho is too big to cary around :.

Re: VfSU on Mac OS
Hang in there guys, the latest builds of our Mac release are looking fairly solid. I posted a new developer blog post about it. http://asgvisdev.blogspot.com/. So hopefully you won't be stuck using Fusion for too much longer, and you'll have a solid product that outperforms our previous release, has new features, and runs natively on OS X.Best regards,
