I am attempting to make a wrought iron fence. The material is set up like a dark metal but under the transparency map I have an alpha bitmap. I am getting a slight haze where the white areas are, like it is not deleting all of the white out. Also the mapping is not staying consistent from surface to surface. One surface will be mapped correctly and then the next surface will be rotated 90 degrees in the y plane. I tried messing around with the mapping widget a little bit was not able to get the results I wanted. Is there a better way to do this?

Can you post an image? If you are using a reflection layer you have to place the transparency mapping on the reflection layer too, to limit the reflection on the fence and not on the white area.
Use the rhino texture mapping to control the mapping on the surface.
