good pm guys, here's my problem, every time i render, i takes about 7-12 minutes to start? there's 3 pc's here, all have vray for sketchup, i tried rendering same layout's on these 3 pc's, and mine is the always the last one to start and end? is there a sometime in vray option o sketchup preference that i need to tweek?
(basically we have the same pc's specs, core 2, 2gig ram, do processor have a significant advantage? mine runs @ 2.66GHz, the other two runs @ 3.0GHz?)

plus i posted this a few months ago, every time i render, materials used in rendering (jpeg format) gets dumped on my local drive C: and sometimes on my other drives? why is that?

hope someone here shines a light on my predicament hehe ??? :-\ :

Re: First problem (renders slow to start i.e. slow parsing) see sticky: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=5386.0

Re: bitmaps being dumped around your system, have you activated Distributed Rendering in the "System" roll-out and enabled asset collection? If so this will cause your bitmaps to be saved to the selected folder. If you don't want VfSU to do that, disable asset collection.

        Re: render issues

hmm still having this weird material dumping bit, i've disabled this: Distributed Rendering in the "System" roll-out and enabled asset collection, already, yet the same problem continues?

hello...when i'm rendering with vray with a huge model i get this message "

How huge is "huge"? Is it lots of geometry or large bitmaps or both?

160 MB of 2 million face and 100 bitmap most of ...my pc contain of 16 gb ram and my processor i7 2600k...i using windows 8 x64 VfSU1.49.02 SU8.0.16846...i am try to render a spherical shot with 360 degree...3000*1500 pixel...i use purge unused form statistics menu form medel info...and increase the dinamic memory limit to 6100 ...and try to render it in vray raw image file as a preview frame buffer ..the light cach and the irradiance map are completed with no problem .but when it come to render the final image the buckets render a black square and the sketchup was turn off without giving me any error messege...i try it for five times after that it give thats messege"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application`s support team for more information"
              thanks or replay..

Unfortunately it's (almost) irrelevant how much RAM you have, SketchUp is a 32bit program and V-Ray is limited by that so it can only use 4Gb of RAM.

There's no hard-and-fast rule for how big is too big, but 160Mb is huge: I think the biggest model I've ever created was around 120Mb. 2 million faces is extremely high for SketchUp (or do you mean 2 million edges?). SU was never built to cope with very high-poly models, but proxies in the next version of VfSU will really help with this issue. In the meantime, anything you can do to get the poly count down will help- don't forget that if you have 100 identical components in your model every single poly reduction you make will be multiplied by 100 so always start with the components which occur most often.

Try reducing the size of bitmaps, either by resolution or by saving as lower quality jpegs. Clipmapped png textures are a killer; I use them often for trees and people and have been forced to create low res versions (no more than 3000 x 3000px) to be able to render out big renders without SU crashing.

Nomeradona's brilliant tutorial on working around SU/VfSU's memory limitations: http://nomeradona.blogspot.se/search/label/VRImage

thanks again for reply...most of those things you told me i know it ...because i am using VFSU for five years..and a i'am often use a trick by render the image by 2 region or 3 or 4 if the output is too big or have alot of polygon like displacement ...chaos group didn't release any new version for sketchup for 2 and half years....i think something is wrong ...when u think they will release a new version with new feature like proxy and real time render and i think it will be nice if the add archive for materials so the person can copy the file and render it to anther PC ..i think those missing feature are killing all of users of VFSU...and when u think sketchup will add feature for working working with high polygon.. and release sketchup x64 bit...because if they need a nother year or more i think most of users must go to 3d max to have render without problem ...please reply and thanks...

For the latest news regarding VfSU updates check out this thread and pay special attention to DKendig's comments:

                    http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...t-update/page3

Google optimised SketchUp a couples of time to cope with higher poly counts (you should have seen it prior to SU7!), but by all accounts it's not going to be 64bit anytime soon and anyway there are other issues which limit how many polys it is comfortable to work with in SU, ie OpenGL and SU fantastic inference engine.

VfSU users need to stop blaming SU and especially VfSU for the limitations of these programs. If people need to model and render extremely high poly models then they can buy 3ds Max ($3675) + V-Ray for 3ds Max ($1295) for $4970. Or they can download SU for free and buy V-Ray for Sketchup for $795 and work around it's limitations. No-one expects a Volksvagen Polo to have the perfomance of a Porsche so why do they expect software to have the same functionality as others that cost 6 times as much?

Bugs however are a real pain and Chaos have been working hard to rectify them, but all programs have their limitations.

Believe me, SU and VfSU will soon be extremely competitive with all 3D modelling/rendering software.

I don't work for Chaos so I can't say more than Devin (Dkendig) has said in the thread I linked to.
