Hi guys, Im planning to get some upgrade for my PC and if possible to get the new one. Im aiming at Core to Duo, the problem is it enough to render high quality setting?. Coz if its not Core to Quad maybe the answer. Since I've never using those two processor, maybe you can help me decide. Thanks

Re: Is Core to Duo enough ??
The more cores the better, but I work on a Centrino Duo (2 Core laptop) and other than very glossy scenes and animations I find it's fast enough for most work. Don't forget that SU can only use one CPU core (and AFAIK Google still have NO plans to fix this) so working in SU is always limited to the GHz of a single core. >SU 2018 + VfSU 4.0

Re: Is Core to Duo enough ??
V-Ray will use all the core you got when rendering. So the more the merrier.
But SU itself will only use one. For SU it's the raw speed the counts. Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Originally posted by nawaitsaThanks for the info sir, but sorry I dont understand SU can only use one CPU Core. Does that mean if I'm using 2.8 Ghz Core 2 Duo I would eventually have the same result as 2.8 Ghz of pentium IV.
Don't let that put you off purchasing multi-core CPUs though- they have huge advantages, such as being able to run several programs simultaneously (like rendering in V-Ray while continuing to work on an SU model). Even SU will eventually have to support multi-threading. Like Thom says, the more cores the better.SU 2018 + VfSU 4.0
