can not access mapping property box. help!

I am trying desperately to open/access the mapping properties dialog box to adjust a bitmap file for a diffuse layer, but with no luck. I know the manual says to hit F3 to access this box, but I only get the Rhino Viewport properties.
Is there any other way to access this mapping properties dialog box, I am going insane.

I am running VRAY1.5 for Rhino4 - using parallels on a dual 2.8 intel mac, 10gig ram- and have disabled all mac keyboard functionality.

did you selected the object first? remeber that the properties change depending is you have something selected or not, if not you will always see the View properties! good luck! :P
