  • Speckles in Materials

Been trying to render some materials in a scene and have been experiencing some problems with the materials appearing very speckly (if that is even a word). Both the wood texture for the cabinets and the brushed metal appear to have a speckle look to it, which I wish to get rid of. Please give some insight.

    Pictures for reference:

i get them all the time when i seem to have nice looking textures. just increase the subdivisions on the materials. sometimes i have to go to even 50! to get rid of the speckles. increase the subdivisions in the material settings in the reflection rollout

Ok, sounds easy enough, I'll have to give that a try!!!

Those spot are produce by the emissive material of the spot light in the ceiling. You can't use the emissive material to illuminate the scene. High intensity in an small object produce that kind of noise.

First off, the can lighting in the ceiling isn't an emissive material. They are the Omni-directional vray lights. The under cabinet lighting and pendant lights are objects with emissive properties. I'm not trying to illuminate the scene with the emissive material, I'm simply trying to give the effect. Is there a better way to approach it?

I believe when I didn't apply the emissive property yet, I was still receiving the speckles as shown here:

          Thanks

http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?to...49698#msg49698 i got similar problems in these renders but i knew it was from the subdivisions on my materials but i don't have a fast computer so i just left them to not increase my render time. try increasing your sub d n see what happens, what version of vray are you using?

I've been swamped at work with another project, so I haven't had time to do another test render yet with higher sub D. We are using SU6 with Vray 1.05.3. I know its out dated, but its the most stable one for us right now, as SU7 Vray just always shut down on us..

Yea, I don't really like it either, but its the only one that seems stable enough for us here in the office.
