Begin with finding a material you like most by going here... (They have a lot) for free. You can choose as many as you like

Then you design your logo, set up a studio type environment...(I have not developed a a really good studio setting yet) and then mess with the lights/materials until you see something you like.

This is a start, but the most important thing is the studio settings. I too would like to see if some people have some great settings .visopts.
