  • Getting Sketchup to Display Vray Material Correctly

It seems that when I adjust the tiling in the Vray material editor the image in model space still shows as the previous size. How can get this to update or correctly show the diffuse or bump map size?

    Thanks for the input..

Re: Getting Sketchup to Display Vray Material Correctly

I would recommend adjusting the texture size in SketchUp, rather than adjusting the repeat values in our UI. Normally my recommendation would be to use the V-Ray UI and avoid the SketchUp UI, but their texture/UV system is... special... so I would recommend using their texture placement tools. Keep in mind, skewed textures won't render as they appear in the viewport, but the scale and rotation should work.

Iinitially started with scaling the materials in Sketchup. Only problem is I can not tell how to in put a direct scale factor. I can only estimate when I drag the position tool on the texture editor.

      Thanks for the input.

Any additional tricks / tips you can add since I am new to the game?

Sorry for the detached follow up...

But the other question I had was about applying materials. Do you prefer to apply to a group or and individual surface. It seems that you can only edit (scale, etc.) the texture in Sketchup when it is applied to an individual surface.

It's better if you apply the material to the face. You are right, if you apply the material to a group you can't scale the texture. If you want to be precise in term of texture scale, you can click on the edit tab on the SU material editor and adjust the scale there.
