  • Rendering imported mesh objects

    Hi guys!

I've been dealing with vray for a while, but usaly I render solitaire design objects. From time to time I get involved in some interior stuff and it is kind of trouble for me.
There are very few nurbs 3d model depositories so I usualy use imported mesh objects.

Can anybody help me with the issue of rendering these kind of objects to avoid ugly polygon shadows and prolonged render time ? (the more fine mesh setting, the less ugly mesh, the longer rendering time)

This is kind of basic issue and I would like some hints, how to work with these objets in Rhino, maybe there is some software where I can prepare such object before import.

    Thanks.

here is one exmple of interior with imported meshes. It is just old test render, so please don't mind the quality of it. There are visible defects on the sofa or stool or frame on the wall. Is there a possibility to somehow deal with those objets and make them smooth, or they are just not dens enough in mesh to be used in Rhino?

    Re: Rendering imported mesh objects

I can't really tell from the image; but it seems like the sofa and stool meshes have sufficient triangles. Try using Rhino's weld/unweld tools to clean up the models:

Rhino's mesh tools will let you add & remove faces too, if the meshes aren't clean. They often aren't when you use "free" models - you pay for them in the cleanup. I usually open the models in a new Rhino file and clean them up there - once they're ok I import them into the final model.
