If yes then the bump map has no uv mapping. the easiest way to do this is create a second diffuse layer. now the new diffuse layer should be on top of the diffuse layer in which you have your gold colour. put the bump map in the new diffuse layer slot. you should now see the map in the SU scene. scale the texture to suit your geometry. this now means the bump will have some coordinates to map to. BUT if you render this you end up with the bump texture showing, which you do not want. so in the diffuse layer where you just placed your bump map as a diffuse texture - select the m in transparency and set it to TexColor and change the colour to white. this means that the bump texture is still in the SU viewport, but when you render the transparency in that slot means Vray will ignore that texture and use the gold colour in the layer below.
