Two question from beginner:))

Hi all,

My name is Michal and I'm new on the forum. I'm using Sketchup and V-Ray to visualize my new house which I build.
I have a few question

First question

Can somebody explain why "spot light" doesn't emit any light in the place where it is located? After rendering we don't know where the light source is.



In the case of "IES light" whe exactly know where the light is coming from...



Second question:

What is the reason of strange shadow effects like on the picture below. I've used the "omni lights" in this case and I try to render the real bracket lights on the wall. How to make shadows smooth??

hi michal
about the splotchiness... you need to increase the light cache multiplier... but you also need more illumination, set a rectangular light behind the camera, and play with the phisical camera settings...
about the spot light... it might be many, many things... i'm guessing that the spot lights are components... if that's right, you have to go inside of them, and explode everything... some times, when we make a group or a component, and there are many groups within it, vray just don't render them... so they become invisible... the trick is to explode them, but try not to explode the final component, till you're sure that you don't have another option, cause that will increase the size of your file...
one advice... do not use emitter materials for illumination... you can set an emissive material with a very low intensity (enough so it can be seen) and then just paste an omni or a rectangular light infront of it... that will also help with the splotchiness...
