newbie questions - pleas help!!

Hi
i am new to vray, and have been working with the manual to learn how to use it but have a lot of difficulties
i am having trouble with the intial setup of the external lighting - it doesnt come out right and i cant figure it out!!
another challange is with the materials - can someone help me learn how to redner with materials? i am very much frustrated

the thing with renders is that you have to follow some simple steps, check out this post, it's a tutorial i made
