  • Physical Camero Or Just GI

I am a bit lost, sometimes when i need to use only GI, the final colors of the image, even if the GI color is just white, are not like they should be, but with the physical camera they always look correct.

The thing is, there are basic tips for using GI?

How to get the "real" colors with GI without using physical camera? I suposse depends on the GI and the sunlight, but as i said, i never get the right colors, only when i use the physical camera.

If i am trying to render, for example a space ship that is surrounded by only the stars illumination, should i use the physical camera? or should i use the GI with a pure white color??

Is the BG color really relevant or only in scenes with horizont light?

Has the caustics something to do with this? when should we activate the caustics??

When using a render engine, should i change to light cache instead of photon map for the space renders?

    Thx in advance.

Re: Physical Camero Or Just GI

One of the good thing of the physical camera is the color balance to control the tone of the white color. I also like to use the f-number to control the DOF effect, plus the other setting of the camera. So I always use the Physical camera no matter that I'll use only GI. When I want to use only GI, I disable the exposure option of the physical camera, but I still use the color balance and some other option.
For better answer I would like to see a sample image of what you mean with "are not like they should be".
