  • Vraylight edititing grayed out

    Hi,
I discovered recently a problem with my Vray: the "edit light" option is grayed out and I can't do any changes. I have SU8 Pro and Vray 1.49, windows7 64 bit.
I might be an interference from some plugin that I installed recently but I have no idea which one could do this. The various plugins are from the Sketchucation forum and they work well enough.
I suspected that the VrayLumen could be the culprit but it turned out I was wrong.
By the way, the only way I can work around the problem is through the VrayLumen panel, but apparently it doesn't work with IES light.
May be there is a keyboard shortcut to bring up the light editor?

if you really want to troubleshoot this issue, you need to remove all of your plugins, and add them back in one by one until there is a problem. If you do anything else, it's probably just going to result in you wasting a lot of time. I would definitely start with VRayLumen since the author warns:
** This Script is currently highly unstabel and its behaviour is unpredictable. It should be considered "proof-of-concept" and early alpha version. I have only tested it on Sketchup v. 8.0.3117 and the latest VfS (I think)**
There is no keyboard shortcut to access light properties either btw.

I will do what you said if there's nothing else to do,but it's such a lot of work! I hope someone can pinpoint the troublemaker!
By the way, I did remove VrayLumen and it didn't change anything, so I put it back, for the moment it's the only way to control the lights. I'll have to do without IES in the meantime.

yeah, you're going to have to run through each plugin then if VRayLumen didn't fix it. Nobody will be able to troubleshoot the issue unless they have the same plugins and computer setup as you, so again, I really recommend you do this yourself. Just start with the plugins that you added most recently, or start by taking all of them out except for V-Ray for SketchUp (just copy them to a folder in the plugins folder temporarily). Then go through one by one until you find the culprit.

As I replied in this thread: http://forum.asgvis.com/index.php?topic=10481.0

Either you have old versions of Fredo's plugin, which caused menus to grey out.
Or you have so many plugins installed that SketchUp has trouble managing the menus.

First ensure all your Fredo plugins are updated, if they are, then get rid of plugins you don't really use.
(Please don't make more than one thread per topic. Makes it hard to keep up with the conversation and information.)
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

I don't believe any of the old asgvis.com links work anymore since the forum was migrated. Don't know that this will ever be fixed, but it would be nice if there was some forum wizard around to automate re-linking the old links.

robert111 - ASGvis was bought by the Chaos Group, so the ASGvis forums have been merged in to the Chaos Group forums. The links to pages on the ASGvis site will no longer work because that website does not exist anymore.

andybot_cg - unfortunately we don't have anything that will automate fixing the links, at least that I am aware of. It would be nice to have them all automatically fixed though.
