  • Reflection map environment question.

    Hey all,

    I have a question.

if I use a blinn Material for Mental ray, I am able to input a reflection map (not raytraced reflection) into the reflection color input.

is there any way I can do this in vray aswell? I want to fake the reflections for an animation I am doing but I prefere lighting with vray.

I want to give every material its own reflection map, so I cannot use the environment overide in the render settings.

    Kind Regards,

    Simon van den Broek

    Hello,

Have you tried the V-Ray Material override additional attributes?
Here you can find some docs: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/maya...b.htm#Override
In newer builds, the overrides can be added to the material, too.

    Best regards,
    Teodor

Like Teodor suggested, you can use the override attributes to use a custom environment map. You may also have to turn on the "dim reflections" option and set the dim distance to a some small value (like 0.001), so that the custom environment map is used always instead of actually reflecting anything.
