  • V-Ray for Rhino - message "Exception: Irradiance map thread"

    Hi everyone,

During rendering process I am getting the message "Exception: Irradiance map thread" many times in the "V-Ray -- Render Progress" dialog.

Does anyone know what means that message?

    Thank you in advance.

In addition, it seems now that V-Ray stopped the rendering process near the end of Prepass 3 of 4, while V-Ray and Rhino are still running.

Is it possible to inlight me?

      Hi Kirkos
Can you send me the scene files with all the textures that you are using. If the scene is too big you can upload it on www.mediafire.com and send me the link.

Hi, thank you for your reply to my request.

Unfortunately, for the time being, it is not easy for me to send you the complete scene as it concerns a prototype ship model. But I will try in due course if no solution is found.
Meanwhile, if there are any other ideas, please let me know.

        Thank you.

          Hi Kirkos
Without the scene it is very difficult for me to give you a precise solution, but some user said that could be a missing or corrupted texture, materials, other user said that the issue was fixed when they restart the computer and could be also out of memory of ram. I hope we can find a real solution for this issue.

Every time I have this issue,it is a corrupted file, and almost always it is a jpeg map.

              Thanks a lot!

Finally I found that there was a jpeg texture map with low resolution (compared with the rendered image size) causing V-Ray to stop and Rhino crash.
However, I am not sure what do you mean when you say that "the jpeg map is corrupted". Has it to do with its resolution compared with the resolution of the rendered image, like above mentioned? If you have any answer please inlight me.

In any case, thanks a lot for your help!

I don't think it has to do with the size,I don't know exactly what the problem is,what I know is that the culprit files open every where else with no problem.Another thing I have noticed,is that the jpeg file have to be save as basic not progressive, that will cause vray to crash instantly.

Yes, we don't support progressive jpg. This produce an error. You have to re-save the file as standard jpg. Like I said before, could be a corrupted textures and is not related to the size of the textures, it is related with the file itself.
