about the new version and the tests i have been making, hasn't anyone found the issue where the images look too sharp? materials take forever to preview and renders take so long to start? let me know guys cuz i have been having those troubles

Another question, has anyone else had a problem rendering objects mapped with an external uv software like 3ds max through the uv tools plugin? i had a problem where i mapped a hassock and the render just wouldn't start, its late so hopefully i get some replies by morning. thanks.

Could you post an example of the over-sharpness in your image? Which image sampler are you using?
Are your models large (50MB or larger - sometimes smaller if you have a lot of repetitive components -like leaves,) and are you using displacement? Those are two things that tend to slow things down for vfsu.

second Q: imported UV mapping in SU can be hit or miss, I think distorted textures can pose a problem. Did you try mapping it again in SU?

edit: oh yeah, and make sure all your materials are RGB color

well for all the renders i have tried they seem to be over sharp, but i will run more tests before i make a post, and yes most times my scenes are huge and i hardly use displacement but i have lots of leaves for exteriors and yes i know this is a slow down. and for the uv mapping no i just used the plugin as its specified n brought back my object into sketchup usually with a texture like a leather i download online or some other. are you saying after i ring it back i should try applying the texture again? i will post post a scene after i make the trials with the new version

another question, is there a reason why white materials have grain in the material editor no matter how much subdivions it has?

Yes, high value of white messes with the lighting calculations. You shouldn't have white values at pure white, and it's better to have them lower than even 250 or 245.

                hi
i have a question about Displacement...
please see the attached file by the link below:
                http://www.2shared.com/file/PlBGMQqP/Desktop.html
it contains vismat material and visopt options which I used in my rendering.
when I render first skp, the result is the first jpg...
but when I add a simple plane without Displacement (second skp), the Displacement of first plane is gone (as you can see in second jpg)!
please tell me what is wrong here?
