If I read this tutorial correctly then image sampler/Adaptive DMC sampler max subdivs of 5 will subdivide a material reflection subdiv of 50 to 10 subdivs per eyeray. That's fine for a number like 50 but what if the reflection subdiv is 49. Can you have 9.8 subdivs? does it round up or something? Am I wrong in my understanding of this whole thing?
