  • Container ship paint

I´m trying to render a container ship, but I can´t get the correct paint material for the boat.
I want a matte paint, or something similar at this but its difficult, any idea? How can I do the rusty effect?

I have some problems rendering too, I use the studio visopt but the renders are very noisy, I dont know how to do to avoid this noise.

Can you post an image of one of your failed renderings? If we see the problems, that would help.

      Hi
The easy way is make the texture in photoshop and just add the texture in the diffuse layer of the material and add a reflection layer. Other way is more complicate. You need three diffuse layer and a mask. In the second layer you could have the White color for the base paint. In the transparency slot of the top diffuse layer you can use an alpha mask to control the rusty area. In the second diffuse layer you can have the rusty texture or color. You should use the Rhino texture mapping to control the alpha mask position. In order to see the alpha Mask in the viewport you should also place the texture in the diffuse layer of the very top diffuse layer and you have to change the transparency color of this layer to white. This will avoid that the layer appear in the render. Also you need two texture mapping channel. One to control the UV Mapping for the rusty texture and other for the alpha mask. This material is very complicate. Here is the link to download the material and the scene. So you can take a look to it.

You are welcome! The material was just an example. to let you know how to make it. You may have to find or make the correct mask and the rusty texture.

              Here is a sample.

The colors are only a sample, there are not the final colors, and the materials of the hull is plastic matte, because I didn't find a paint material for this.
I didn't put ground, hdri etc.
I know the quality of the model is not so good, don't mind, is a university project.

Now I have doubts, what ground I have to put, to make a studio render, what hdri is good for make reflections in the hull of the ship, etc.

              What do you think??

                  Hi
If you want to simulate a studio shot, you should use studio HDRI. You can also use rectangular light as a support light of the HDRI to get reflection and/or illumination in specific areas. In term of the ground, you could use L studio floor, S studio floor or you can use a planar circular surface with the attached material. The material is an almost white material with a circular gradient map in the transparency slot in order to blend the floor with the background. The HDRI should be in the environment reflection slot and the BG should be a white color or your desire color. These setting are good to get white floor and white background blended together.
