  • What does the DMC Sampler do when not "connected" with Adaptive DMC image sampler?

    Hello,

When using the Adaptive DMC image sampler you can check the "Use DMC sampler thresh." checkbox

Now, what's the benefits/disadvantages of doing this as oppose to using the "Clr tresh."?
And when/what situation can it be beneficial to use the "Clr tresh." instead?

And what is the DMC Sampler-rollout doing when using any of the other image samplers, Fixed or Adaptive subdivision?

What effect does the "Noise threshold" or "Adaptive amount" variables have when not using Adaptive DMC as image sampler?

    Cheers!

the dmc sampler controls almost every effect within vray, not just the antialiasing. when its decoupled, or oyu are using a different aa system, it still affects GI, glossy effects etc.

      Thanks!

So by not using the "Use DMC sampler thresh."-option you get the flexibility to set the threshold for AA and the rest (GI, glossy effects etc.) independently, which perhaps could potentially safe you some render time, maybe? But on the other hand you get an extra variable to tweak that might results in more time to experiment and find the best settings?

So no matter what image sampler you are using you still need to take the DMC Sampler in consideration for tweaking quality of the rest of the image? Like glossy effects and GI?

        Correct on all counts.
