  • V-Ray and Vector Displacements

    Hi there,

Im pretty new to v-ray rendering... I searched around for vector displacements, but couldnt find anything helpful enough for me. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of setting up vector displacement maps? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Is this only viable with vector maps from mudbox? Reason I ask is because I'm doing my sculpting in Zbrush and exporting a vector disp. from there. I believe I may be getting mixed up at the stage :
" After that, assign a new material to the object (I used a VRayFastSSS2 material with the Milk (skimmed) preset, and assign a displacement shader to it. Create a File texture for the displacement source and point it to the exported .exr vector displacement file. For Maya 2012, leave the map attached to the Displacement slot of the displacement shader, and not to the Vector Displacement one."

This is how it should look: http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2...6gko1_1280.jpg

        Hypershade setup: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2...6gko1_1280.jpg

        What is rendering out: http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m2...6gko1_1280.jpg

Any help or advice would be most welcomed.

        Thanks

We are currently looking into the ZBrush vector displacement.

From what I see, the ZBrush map is 0.5-centered; I just have to check if it is also scaled.
