  • VrayFur and VRay2SidedMtl

When using VRay2Sided Mtl on VRay Fur to simulate grass it reacts very differently from applying it on single sided geometry.
In the image you can see the shadows on the ground through the leaves and it reacts strangely against the background too. The material doesn't have any transparency.
We should only be seeing a percentage of the lighting from the back face on the front face, not a transparent leaf.

Is this a limitation of VRay fur?
Or am I doing anything wrong?

    Thank you for any help.

    Best regards,
    Jose Alves da Silva

Here is a render for comparison with the same VRay2SidedMtl applied to scattered geometry:

    It reacts very differently.

It behaves differently because the fur is not polygonal geometry. You will have more luck using the VRayHairMtl material (give it some green transmission color). It would be faster too.
