  • Phoenix UI more practical

    Hello,

I'm a french FX TD and I'm using a lot Fumefx, and actually I'm learning your impressive PhoenixFD to play with fluid/foam/splash (awesome tools) but it's very very annoying to scroll, scroll, scroll in the modifier panel.

It will be very enjoyable to have like fumefx UI a simple floating window. A lot of people like me need too this important update to work more quickly and facilely.

Let me know how do you think about it.

Yes, we could make it like the interface of our original Aura plugin, but from what I remember it was a lot of effort that we didn't think was justified for Phoenix FD initially.

With that said, what's wrong with expanding the command panel to have several columns?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Personnaly I think PhoenixFD have a nice future for FX Artist principaly with realistic fluid directly in max. I'm doing some test today it's impressive, a real foam with bubble like any other softwares ! (may be houdini)

It's a little bit hard to work on my screen 24" (1920/1080) with 6 columns in order to not scrolling
I think there will be more PhoenixFD user with an enjoyable interface, keep it up.

Hehe, yes that's quite some screen space Anyways, will see what can be done about it.

        Best regards,

We need surface tension What can be done about it ? We can't pour the beer!
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

Is it possible that Ivaylo share this file ? I continue my learning but it's hard, there are still very few resources.

                Thank you in advance

what exactly you find hard to achieve in this video? your test seems not bad...

I don't understand a lot some parameters in order to have a realistic water simulation and motion.
I have Open the file : Surf.max and I have watch the tutorial : "Phoenix FD 1.20 - Tutorial for fluid map setup from Michael McCarthy" but the approach between them to create water is different like : material transfer / advection , Method, SPF, temperature/fuel to emit water.
I'm feel a little bit lost to start with good base. Do you have some advice, parameters tips to achieve a good starting with PhoenixPD liquid. By exemple "it's good to start with a quality of 20, a classic method, Maximal Step set to 4 or higher, SPF upper and low set to 2.0 etc. after you can increase this or this for better sim)

I like this plug in but not easy to learn.

                        (sorry for my french english)

well, i understand that the most of users are dreaming for an ui containing only parameters like the vorticity or buoyancy, and no parameters like the conservation method and the SPF lower limit. unfortunately many parameters are not directly related to the visual behavior/appearance of the result, but are directed to the simulation mechanism. i think there are two main different approaches
                          - to try to understand the simulation workflow and the meaning of each parameter that is related to the simulation mechanism (see here)
                          - to modify existing scenes/settings for your needs, and gradually to build an intuitive sense for the parameter usage.
and you can search here for some old topics related to the meaning of the parameters

What would be usefull in selling the software would be like said more complete documentation. Take for example the complete vray guide, there you have many iterations of settings with renders. Kind of like the examples in spot3D but more complete. Would it be possible that users can acces attached images on this forum? Examples and info is allready limited on Phoenix (when compared to fumefx) so limiting acces to posted images isn't helping either.
