  • VrayOceanMtl for 3Dsmax

    Hi

I work on Naiad, and Realflow, and I would like to know if in a future release of Vray in 3DSmax, a realistic ocean shader will be present ? (with chaosgroup dev, it's always realitic shaders, that's why I like Vray )
    Thank you.

It is not impossible, but it might be useful to also talk to the guys at Exotic Matter - they might be able to get to it faster than us. (I suppose it would be pointless to ask Next Limit )

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I'm actually looking for a nice Vray Ocean Shader. Animated or not, just a pre-set shader would be great. I am continuing to search the forum, but if anyone has any quick links that would be fantastic.

        Kind Regards,
        Greg

          Have you tried http://www.vray-materials.de/
I think there are a few on this forum aswell, but you may need to do a bit of searching.
I seam to remember a thread with an oil rig where ocean shaders were discussed.

i usually just like to use a very light bluish green color in diffuse and copy it to the fog color then play with the fog. a mixture of noise and smoke for the bump map with the smoke stretched on one axis to make the waves and then noise for smaller disturbances.

That looks pretty cool Da_elf, have you got this scene animated on youtube somewhere so we can take a look at the foam at the shoreline?

the ocean is just a simple plane with vray material, a little fog and some mixture of smoke and noise maps for the bump. the edge is just a map i picked up here somewhere. i remember it was an old scene with a cliff
