  • High CPU Utilization

When working in SketchUp 8 Pro while rendering using the VRay plug in, the CPU on my client's iMac is hitting 400% CPU utilization. The iMac is running Mac OS X 10.7.4. It has a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 16 GB RAM. As soon as the rendering was complete the processor utilization dropped to .1% with SketchUp still active. Is this an issue with VRay or how it co-exists with SketchUp? Anyone else seeing this with possible solutions to solve or at least mitigate? Is there a way to throttle back the amount of CPU utilization that VRay is using?

Nice synchronicity as I was just about to ask about the same issue for Windows.
Using Vray for Windows, the exact same issue occurs.
"Low thread priority" is checked but not working in the latest builts, preventing me from working on my PC while rendering as Vray eats all resources (99 % percent of the CPU perfornmance).

Best solution would be the developers patching the current latest built for Low thread priority to work again...

Also, I am lookimg into forcing 'low thread priority' through the Windows Task Manager, but with no succes. Vray works within the Sketchup Process, not seperatley, so putting that whole process to Low priority stills make SU unoperable while rendering.

This is really a big issue.

I've asked this question before. It seems the "Low Thread Priority" is glitched and not working. They say it is fixed for next update. At the moment I have many workstations so I am working on other computer whilst the main one is rendering.

exactly my case too, I use vfsu on a separate computer. It also helps to run sketchup on another machine so the copy-paste bug isn't an issue.
