I have a canopy made from a 3-form plastic resin (transparent but "frosted") and signage lettering mounted on the front (not touching the panel). My problem is that the shadows being cast by the lettering are passing through the plastic panel as sharp as if they were in front of clear glass. I created an empty file and re-created the situation in simplified form. I'm attaching an example of the rendered image and the material I'm using for the plastic.
How can I get the shadows of the lettering (and the supporting structure, which is affected in the same manner) to stop being perfectly sharp? Ideally, they would be non-existent as they should really be blurred out beyond detection/recognition.
In a worst-case scenario, I could disable shadow-casting by the letters and structure, but I'd like to know if there is an answer for future situations.
Thanks,
Dave
