I just tried your file and loaded the standard render options. I changed the focus to 52 and aperture 14, iso 400, shutter 50 and it worked.

if i export the render options and load it into my own file, vray is working with 'monte carlo' renderer and the image comes out very dark...
if i rearrange back to my render options (light cache and turn back the skylight on - that was black in your options i imported) the image comes ok, but with unchangeable focaldistance.
so for now i take your options and change some numbers. maybe it will work...
thanks for helping in any ways... u r grat guys =D

the funny point is, now i have a focus-effect, but i cannot edit it. if i change the inches-parameters in camera-prefs, i can't see any change in the render-output.
now i try to change the wohle plan, convert in inches. i have a difference: now everything is as sharp it could be if i render with the same options... i don't get it! xD

I finally had a moment to look at your file - and the issue I found is that your DOF distance was not set accurately. With such a shallow DOF, you have to be very precise in where you locate your focal distance. I recommend using this ruby from the Sketchucation site: http://forums.sketchucation.com/view...221768#p221768
Here are examples at a few different focal distances: Also, I changed your ISO to 200 (it was 20 and was coming out too dark.)

thanks for these inputs. i already use the camera-distance-tool from s'ucation. my correct distance to the glass with water in it is 40.0627'' - but the image is still blurry, when i render with these prefs. i changed so many numbers, but the renderoutput is always the same... funny thing: if i change the units from milimeters to inches, the render gives out a sharp image, but there is no visible DoF effect... same options in vray used.
please have a look at my sketchup-file.

Hi, I downloaded your latest file, opened it in Sketchup and hit render without changing anything. The output was good! The glass with the blue liquid is in focus while the rest is blurry...
